Xu Xinyi’s various black materials came out vigorously in the evening but disappeared by nightfall.
There were three reasons.
First, Han Xiao spoke up.
Speaking of Han Xiao, he had been in all kinds of film festivals and won many awards in recent years, his title of Film Emperor was well deserved. His fans were honorable, his acting skills were superb, he was low-key, and had no affairs or scandals. Average people considered him as one of the best in the entertainment industry.
But what did that Weibo message he sent five minutes ago mean?
First of all, Xu Xinyi was being slandered online as not being dedicated to her work because of the kissing scene using a stand-in.
But, contradicting that, Han Xiao praised Xu Xinyi as one of the most talented actresses he had ever seen, and said she was enjoyable to work with.
Then, he appealed to his fans to consider the matter rationally, and not be carried away by shadowy rumors and gossip-mongering.
His Weibo post was protecting Xu Xinyi both openly and secretly.
This was unlike Han Xiao’s usual style.
For a time, many fans thought Han Xiao’s account had been stolen, but after ten minutes the Weibo did not disappear, so they realized that it had really been sent by Han Xiao himself.
What should they do?
Since it was sent by their idol, the fans had to recognize it even if they didn’t like it. Even if they had just been cynically and sarcastically scolding Xu Xinyi for being unworthy of acting with Han Xiao, the next second, they had to call for everyone to look at this matter rationally and avoid listening to the rumors spread by a marketing account.
The second reason was that Jiang Nian spoke up.
Jiang Nian made his debut as an idol star in a small male idol group under Tianyu and he had pitifully few Weibo fans.
But when it came to this, suddenly people were paying much more attention to him than ever before.
His latest Weibo post was still a sweaty selfie taken from the dance studio two months ago, where all the comments came from his face fans.*
But as soon as this blew up, the attention paid to Jiang Nian increased in a straight line.
When many fans saw the selfie, they stayed behind to express their surprise and turned into loyal face fans, even though they had come to laugh at him and Xu Xinyi.
What did you call that?
Beauty was justice.
Jiang Nian’s face was really remarkable. He had a good foundation and was so young that it looked like you could pinch water out of his cheeks. In that sweaty photo, there were no filters or beautification, it was just the front camera of an Apple phone. Many fans said bluntly that they had discovered a treasure. It was no wonder that Xu Xinyi liked him.
Then Jiang Nian sent a Weibo message to clarify. Although the lines were full of admiration and gratitude for Xu Xinyi, in the eyes of those fans who only looked at the face, it didn’t matter at all. They just directly accepted that Xu Xinyi’s gossip was being spread by marketing accounts because the pretty face told them so.
These wall-sitters would swap sides faster than anyone else.
The third reason was that Yi Yang made a move.
His action was very simple. After Zhao Bin investigated and learned that Li Hanxing was behind the whole thing, he made a direct phone call to Mr. Sun.
At that time, Mr. Sun was worrying day and night about the imminent collapse of his cooperation with the Yi Group.
After returning from the Film City that day, Yi Yang never talked to him again. He had been asking around and trying to find a connection to Yi Yang but it was all to no avail.
Then, just when he was at his wit’s end, he received a call from Yi Yang.
But even before he could gladly say a few words, Yi Yang’s voice came through the phone dripping with frost.
“Mr. Sun, even if we did not reach an agreement there should still be a modicum of respect**. What do you mean by doing this?”
Mr. Sun was confused, “I’m not sure what President Yi means…?”
“Xu Xinyi is my person, and Li Hanxing is yours. It is not very kind for your people to find someone to smear my people on the internet.”
With that, he hung up the phone.
Mr. Sun held his cell phone against his ear blankly. He was stunned for a long time and failed to respond.
Xu Xinyi was Yi Yang’s person?
Mr. Sun patted his thigh, sure enough!
He had seen how Yi Yang always protected Xu Xinyi at the Film City that day. It turned out that when he offended Xu Xinyi that day, he had also offended Yi Yang!
So the source of this whole incident was Li Hanxing. If it wasn’t for Li Hanxing, would he have offended Xu Xinyi?
Thinking quickly, he hurriedly called Li Hanxing and went straight to the point, he asked: “What did you do?”
Until now Mr. Sun had been ignoring Li Hanxing for more than a week now. Li Hanxing, who was used to being praised as a child, had now been bullied in the crew and then was ultimately driven out of the crew. She couldn’t swallow that grievance so she contacted a marketing company. She had given all the pictures and videos she had taken during this period of time to the marketing company and then spent a lot of money to smear Xu Xinyi. She spared no effort.
Then, when she saw that today’s internet today was covered by Xu Xinyi’s black material, Li Hanxing had coldly watched Xu Xinyi being besieged by fans and happily ate two more bowls of rice. But just when she was feeling secretly delighted, Mr. Sun made a phone call and started throwing questions in her face.
“What did I do?”
“Pretending? Are you still pretending? You didn’t hire people to smear Xu Xinyi on the internet? Li Hanxing, let me tell you, Xu Xinyi is not someone you can touch.”
Li Hanxing felt aggrieved, “Why can’t I touch her? She hit me in the face in front of so many people, I just want to let her have a taste of being hit in the face!”
Mr. Sun was so angry his teeth itched. If he had known that Li Hanxing would be so stupid and suicidal, how could he have supported her?
“Li Hanxing, let me tell you, even I can’t touch the people behind Xu Xinyi. If you continue to be unrepentant, I’m afraid you won’t be able to swim in the entertainment industry in the future.”
“You… what do you mean?”
“Literally what I said. Take care of yourself.”
With that, he hung up the phone.
Li Hanxing sat still for a long moment, hatred and anger welled up inside her until her body trembled, and then she smashed the phone to the ground.
“So, you’re saying, the marketing account apologized?” Xu Xinyi looked at Anya, who had come out from City A for this matter, and asked.
“Is that the end of the matter then?”
“What else do you want? Pretty lady, even Han Xiao has spoken, who won’t give him any face? Li Hanxing also posted an explanation on Weibo, explaining that the video was just acting.”
Xu Xinyi looked at the Weibo forwarded by Han Xiao with an extremely heavy heart.
She had thought her name could float on the hot search for a while, but it was only a few hours before it went down like this.
Was it really so easy to clear this sort of thing up?
Weren’t this year’s fans a little too smart?
“But I’m curious, how did you persuade Han Xiao to speak for you? He also followed your Weibo for you. Did you know that Han Xiao has never dealt with this sort of thing? Don’t you know that for him to solve some gossip produced by marketing accounts himself, it is simply lowering his own level?”
“I don’t know, but I think Brother Han is very nice, and not as aloof as you said.”
Anya raised her eyebrows, “Brother Han? You call him so intimately.”
Xu Xinyi smiled and said, “Eh, maybe it’s just because I’m loved by everyone.”
“Come on, don’t flatter yourself. Tell me, what’s going on with Jiang Nian?”
“Oh, I almost forgot, I found him on set, this kid was a bit unlucky. When I found him, he was working as a porter in the Film City, so I kept him with me as an assistant.”
“He said he wanted to act, so he came here to have a look.”
Anya thought about it and felt that something was wrong, but for the moment she couldn’t figure out what it was.
“Well, Jiang Nian, I guess he must have his own thoughts and ambitions. Let’s not bother about whether he came to the Film City intentionally or unintentionally. Just look at his face and whether it’s worth signing!”
Xu Xinyi confronted Anya with the sweaty selfie Jiang Nian had on Weibo.
Anya couldn’t take her eyes away from the screen, “…it’s worth it!”
“Then that’s fine.”
“By the way, this matter has blown up on the hot search so please send a Weibo to say thank you.”
“Alright.” Xu Xinyi considered what she should send.
Anya saw that she was slow to type and said, “Don’t think too much. Just say thank you in your usual tone. That way it shows that you have a good relationship.”
“That makes sense.”
Xu Xinyi: Thank you.
Anya looked at the two words on Weibo written by Xu Xinyi, and she was so angry that she didn’t say a word. Two words? Couldn’t you say just a few more words? Or at least an @***?”
Xu Xinyi had an innocent expression and said, “Didn’t you tell me to be casual?”
Anya hated that iron could not become steel, “Forget it. Just look at the comments. “
“You read it for me, I won’t.” Xu Xinyi gave her the cell phone.
Anya took her phone and flipped through the comments under Weibo.
There were fewer people scolding her, although there were still a few black fans who never stopped questioning and finding fault, but they would instantly disappear under the tide of comments from fans.
But among them, there was one Weibo account that left a message which was instantly well received by the fans.
It is a Weibo account nicknamed ‘Yiyang12138’ with only two words: “You’re welcome”.
Yi Yang’s name had become very popular on the Internet recently. Back when Han Xiao bought an apartment Lanting and it was dug up by the tabloids. After that everyone knew that one Lanting suite could reach the same price as other people’s whole buildings.
It was from that time that Yi Yang’s name appeared in front of everyone.
With his money, appearance, and family background, he was simply the ideal bachelor.
Now that a Weibo account with Yi Yang’s name appeared in the comments the fans directly praised the nickname first, whether it was really the person or not.
Under Yi Yang’s reply, fans shouted for their husbands like crazy.
Anya thought she had read it wrong and clicked on the account to have a look. It was a newly registered account.
“Look, Xinyi, it’s Yi Yang’s Weibo.”
“Yi Yang’s Weibo?” Xu Xinyi hurriedly leaned over and saw the profile picture was just a tie on a man’s body from the neck down, and the account was called ‘Yiyang12138’. “Block him!” she said angrily.
Anya looked over at her questioningly.
She was filled with righteous indignation: “Yi Yang would never use Weibo, this person using Yi Yang’s name, must be an imposter! Come on! Block this damn copy cat!”
After browsing on Xu Xinyi’s Weibo for half an hour, Yi Yang was about to make a comment when he suddenly found that he was on Xu Xinyi’s blacklist.
Yi Yang, who was unable to comment: “?”
*i.e. His only fans were people who liked the look of his face.
**‘买卖不成仁义在’ Chinese idiom meaning that even if a deal can’t be reached the two parties can still be amicable. I think the literal translation would be something like ‘friendship remains even if we can not reach an agreement with each other’ but I don’t think Yi Yang would be talking about friendship with this guy so I changed the word.
***‘艾特一下’ so this is web slang. As far as I can gather in Chinese that is a phonetic of the english ‘@’ symbol. And it’s used to denote a notification sound when you’re speaking out loud? So it’s weird in this context… I think she’s saying Xu Xinyi could have at least tagged the people she was thanking.
