“We will always remember the patriarch’s words. My brother and I have already been adopted so we will certainly be good members of our new family, we will work hard, and we will never tarnish the reputation of our parents.”
Su Tang looked around at the onlookers, and then added, “Thank you all for seeing things clearly today and helping us siblings prove our innocence. In the future, my brother and I will be living on our own, so we will be in your care.”
Just before she had been threatening them but now she was giving them her thanks, it was the classic but powerful move of first showing the stick and then offering the candy.
Originally, most of the people who had gathered today were only here to watch the excitement so when they heard Su Tang thanking them, they all waved their hands dismissively and said that she didn’t have to mention it. But the eyes they were looking at Su Tang with had changed. This little girl who had met the River God was different now. The way she spoke had become clearer and easier to understand, at the very least.
“Since my brother and I have proved our innocence, we will head back first. We are still in our mourning period so it isn’t appropriate for us to walk around too much.” Having said all that needed to be said, Su Tang pulled Su Nuo behind her and walked away.
Su Yongqiang was still watching Su Yonggui’s family so he just sent them off with a word. At the same time, the big group of people all slowly dispersed.
Su Yongshun and his family lived nearby so they were some of the last ones to leave. Su Nuan watched the backs of Su Tang and Su Nuo that were slowly disappearing toward their home and said, “Niang, Aunt Tang is so powerful.”
When Madam Qin heard her little daughter say that, she chuckled and leaned down to pat her daughter’s head. “Oh? Then what does Nuan Nuan think is so good about your Aunt Tang?”
Hearing that question, Su Nuan’s brows furrowed in thought for a long while, “Anyway, she’s just powerful.”
“This girl!” Su Yongshun and Madam Qin exchanged wry smiles. Then they also took a final look over at Su Tang’s house before heading home.
But Su Yongshun privately thought that Su Tang really could be called powerful. After today, whenever the people in Sujia Village saw Su Tang or her brother, they would definitely be seeing them with a very new impression.
She had shown that she and her brother were strong and she was able to give a firm warning that they would not so easy to bully anymore in front of everyone. On top of that, she had demonstrated their attitude of filial piety, and this reputation would quickly spread out. After all, who wouldn’t praise these two small children that kept to the rules and understood the importance of filial piety?
If people didn’t know that the matter had first been raised to Su Yongqiang by his son, they might wonder if Su Tang had planned to be adopted into Su Laochuan’s household from the very beginning. After all, she seemed to have no nostalgia for her previous home or family, instead, her attitude with them was very firm.
Maybe the most important thing that had happened today was how Su Tang had managed to change everyone’s impressions of her and her brother. For instance, the two siblings really had no nostalgia for their previous family and to most people that would seem a little ruthless, but after today everyone just thought that Su Yonggui’s family deserved it.
Plus that girl was so articulate. Every word and sentence she said pushed her own ideas forward step by step, virtually achieving her goal before the conclusion was even drawn, and she was only eight years old.
Su Yongshun and Madam Qin exchanged happy glances, it really seemed that the two children adopted by Su Laochuan were extraordinary.
Having no idea of how Su Yongshun and his family thought of them, Su Nuo and Su Tang made it home and closed the door behind them. Then Su Nuo looked over at his sister with indescribable excitement on his face and said, “Sister, you’re so powerful, they couldn’t say anything at all in front of you.”
Su Tang saw the little guy’s look of worship, and her expression turned a little strange. Eventually, she took the unfinished clothes they had been carrying and started to put them on the kang bed, at the same time she looked over at the little guy and asked, “So you think your sister is powerful?”
“Well, in the past you always told me not to argue with our family and to be silent and obedient, because that way our father would know that we were good children. But that was not the case at all. Those people never wanted to be nice to us, and they always bullied us. But today they were beaten, hahaha.”
Su Nuo didn’t even think about the fact that it was his grandmother who was beaten today. He was too busy being very happy.
When she saw that the little guy was so happy because he was finally able to vent some of his anger after all this time, Su Tang could only sigh in her heart that the former Su Dani was just too cowardly. She hadn’t even been as brave as her little brother who was two years younger than her. But now Su Tang was here and Su Dani’s way of flattering people and trying to please them was really not something she could do!
tl note: I really don’t like how Su Tang / the author likes to constantly take shots at Su Dani for being too cowardly or whatever. I mean what the hell? How brave is any 8 year old girl in this world? Not to mention an 8 y/o girl who spent her whole life being abused? It’s so absurd to criticize her when she literally had zero options. Eight isn’t an age where you can go on a heroic globe-trotting adventure to escape your evil relatives, okay?
