Ruan Tian was actually very familiar with that man.
He was her boss.
Her meal ticket.
The man that she seemed to have been enemies with even in her previous life.
The cheapskate that liked to pretend.
-Qin Yu.
Ruan Tian hasn’t seen Qin Yu for almost two years now. After all, Qin Pictures was just one of the more insignificant companies under Qin Yu’s name.
For him to appear at the company was something rare.
After all, this Young Master Qin had been sickly ever since he left his mother’s womb. He had always been in poor health ever since he was a child, seeming to be ill all year round. His face was always sickly and pale, and his black eyes were usually dark and gloomy, so he usually didn’t personally come out.
Ruan Tian was quite shocked to see him here, and even a bit afraid.
He was wearing a man’s black suit with a black shirt underneath. The way his whole outfit was nothing but blacks and dark colors made him seem extra gloomy.
Currently, Qin Yu was sitting in a wheelchair. From what Ruan Tian knew, he had no problems with his legs or his feet, but because of his sickly body, he had to sit in a wheelchair from time to time.
When Ruan Tian entered the room, his lips curled into a smile that was not a smile and, with a slight movement of his fingers his wheelchair rolled in front of her. He slowly arranged his cuffs until they were perfect before saying with a smile: “Ruan Tian, it seems that you are very powerful these days.”
Ruan Tian put on a flat expression, “Well, not too bad, but nothing amazing.”
In truth, Ruan Tian wasn’t afraid of anyone in the circle of dandy second generation rich layabouts that she knew, except one. Only Qin Yu made her feel a certain indescribable fear.
It was because, while it was true that the other ones were all fools who liked to act like morons.
Qin Yu was the only one who was really sick.
His brain was definitely not normal.
When he did things, he did them seriously.
Unrelentingly.
For instance, the time when she was dragged into an alley by hoodlums when she was in high school, Shen Shu had just watched contemptuously, but Qin Yu had made a move.
He had walked into the alleyway with his bodyguard beside him. His blue and white school uniform seeming to contrast with his sickly pale face under the street lights.
Back then, Ruan Tian had been in a crisis so she completely tossed aside all thoughts of her feud with Qin Yu. After all, in the face of real danger, her face was worth a fart.
No, not even as much as a fart!
Anyway, she had been crying and calling for her mother.
That’s when Qin Yu, the dog man, took advantage of the crisis to rob her thoroughly. With eyes that were cold like a snake, he said. “If you let me kiss you, I will help you.”
Ruan Tian came up with a naive plan, gritted her teeth, and gave a nod.
Her plan was simple: After Qin Yu helped her out, she would just run away immediately.
Could it be that she couldn’t run away from the always sickly and weak Qin Yu?
But people shouldn’t judge others just by their appearance.
That same Qin Yu, who always looked sickly and weak, suddenly became as powerful as an ox and fiercely caught up to her and pressed her wrist against the wall, so that he could roughly bite her lips.
Even now, Ruan Tian could still remember her first kiss that had been taken by force.
It had been painful, full of a coppery taste, and not beautiful at all.
Since she discovered ‘the novel’ she realized that Qin Yu must have been treating her as a stand-in for Zhou Xiaoqiao. He couldn’t kiss the sainted female lead, so he could only take a step back and settle for kissing her.
Ruan Tian also remembered a certain year, when it was her and her sister’s birthday.
Qin Yu had given Zhou Xiaoqiao a beautiful and delicate little doll worth tens of thousands which she had liked very much, and Shen Shu had given Zhou Xiaoqiao a rare and expensive necklace that had been customized just for her.
Meanwhile, she had been forgotten.
Her parents had forgotten her, and Shen Shu didn’t give her a single thing.
Qin Yu was the only one who remembered her in the end, but only to mock her. He gave her a pot of Lysimachia, and told her that she was just like this pot of grass.
Worthless. Something that could only thrive in the dirt.
In the present, Ruan Tian’s muscles had pulled themselves taut, and she felt uncomfortable all over her body.
She wanted to leave immediately.
However, as if he were deliberately going against her, Qin Yu said flatly: “Follow me to the office.”
Ruan Tian shook her head.
Qin Yu narrowed his eyes and smiled coldly.
Ruan Tian’s mouth felt dry, like it was full of cotton, but she kept her face expressionless. She looked at Qin Yu calmly and said, “I’m afraid you want to take advantage of me.”
Jiang Lili: “…”
Others: “…”
Thank you for the chapter.
For a moment there I was wondering if Qin Yu liked her when he kissed her (tsundere?). But the b-day gift… Nah, he looks like a bastardly guy.
I’m calling it:
Qin Yu was always in love with her, but like a stupid kid, he did not know how to show it.
Most likely aggravated by how she loved her ex-husband, he became more abusive and used whatever he could think of to get her to “submit” to her.
That doesn’t mean what he did was right, just make more sense.
It’s kinda like a boy playing pranks on his crush so she notices him and then having a surprised pikachu face if the crush doesn’t like him back.
About the birthday gift: Several possibilities:
1. it’s meant as a hurtful gift (at least he remembered?) -> Lysimarchia thrive in damp conditions and are considered invasive
2. It’s a subtle nod to the origin of the name: Lysimachus, a king of ancient Sicily, who is said to have calmed a mad ox by feeding it a member of the genus
3. A bit of both: It’s an invasive genus, but one that thrives. Yellow also is usually associated with Jealousy (and Romantic Rejection). so he might have tried to tell her his feelings in a round-about way
Did the author choose that plant deliberately? I don’t know, but for now, I’m done overanalyzing
But Lysimarchia flowers are really pretty, and can bloom under full sun and partial full sun. I really hope he has a crush on her.
…?!?!!??? If he really does have romantic feelings for her, that makes him even worse. What kind of person do you have to be to treat someone you love (or even just like) so callously? & refusing to save someone from being assaulted unless you can kiss them??? Bro. Wtf. 😬😠😠
100 percent agree. Both men are scum. Shen Shu saw it as too much of a bother to help a woman who was in trouble. The other wanted an award for his trouble and assaulted her when she said no.
I rooting for Qin Yu’s brother. He’s a little bit of a jerk, but it seems to more from immaturity than hostility.
he sounds like a scum ML,, pls I want the ML to be that fresh meat Huai or whatever his surname was, not some weird ass guy that has been blocking her career and bullied her.
