When Su Tang arrived in Su Nuo’s room, the little guy was busy practicing his calligraphy. At the same time, he was also eating the white sugar cakes that Su Tang had brought back from the County Seat for him, which made him look a little funny, “If you want to eat, then eat. You can still practice later on. What kind of scene are you making now?”
In fact, the cakes from the Dessert Cafe tasted better than the traditional sweets you could find out on the market, but they weren’t as sweet. Su Nuo still had a child’s taste buds, so he liked these sorts of very sweet things, just that he hadn’t had a chance to eat them before.
Thus, when Su Tang had spotted these sweets in the County Seat, she had decided to bring some back for the little guy, sure that he would like them.
When his sister suddenly spoke up from behind him, Su Nuo hurriedly put the half-eaten cake back down on the plate and turned back to smile at her. “Heh, heh, then I’ll eat these cakes first.”
As Su Nuo happily ate his cakes, Su Tang walked over to check the writing on his desk. This sort of ancient calligraphy style was hard to master and, on top of that, the little guy was still very young with only a short time spent learning, so his handwriting was naturally not very good.
Even for Su Tang herself, because of the limited amount of time she had to practice her calligraphy, wasn’t very satisfied with her current handwriting. Whenever Song Yi had to look at her writing, he would sigh and lament that his little disciple was wasting her talent.
As for the progress of his learning, Su Nuo had already memorized the Three Character Classic before, and these days he was learning the Thousand Character Classic from Mr. Zheng. Thankfully, the academy’s curriculum happened to be in line with Su Nuo’s personal studies.
As Su Tang listened to the little guy talk about his matters from the academy she heard him inadvertently mentioning this Mr. Zheng several times and couldn’t help but smile. It seemed that this Mr. Zheng had really managed to move her brother’s heart. However, Su Tang wasn’t concerned, she just told the little guy to keep studying hard.
Now that she was finally back, Su Tang couldn’t just immediately fall back into her usual routine. After all, she had been busy running around outside the last few days. In the end, she went to rest early and woke up early the next morning.
“Miss, why are you up so early?” After Su Tang got out of bed, she found Yu Caihe already cooking in the kitchen. The woman was surprised to see Su Tang so early since she knew that Su Nuo was still asleep.
Su Tang smiled faintly and replied, “I’ll have to head over to the Song residence a bit earlier today so I can make breakfast for my master. Later, when the young master gets up, just tell him to go straight to the academy. I probably won’t be back until this evening.”
She had been away for several days and hadn’t been able to coax her master properly, so who knew how long she would have to listen to him complain today. Moreover, she knew things would only be getting busier and busier going forward and she would definitely need to ask for leave again many more times in the future, so it was important to coax her master now.
Yu Caihe knew that Su Tang had a mysterious master outside who had taught her many things, but no one from the house had ever actually seen him before. From the mysterious Song residence, they had only ever come into contact with Pengmo. Thus, hearing Su Tang’s explanation, Yu Caihe didn’t ask any further questions and just went to open the door for Su Tang and sent her off before returning to continue to cook.
As it happened, Pengmo had also gotten up early today. He was currently standing in the kitchen and sighing sadly. Now that the young miss had left, his master really wasn’t able to adjust to him taking over the cooking again. Unfortunately, there was no one else, so he still had no choice but to cook. Sighing one more time, he slowly bent down to light the fire but, just then, he vaguely heard someone knocking at the door.
Pengmo came out of the kitchen with a doubtful expression and went to open the door. Then, when he saw it was Su Tang standing outside he nearly burst into tears of happiness. He exclaimed, “Young miss! You’re finally back.”
Su Tang handed over the things in her hands to Pengmo while at the same time asking, “What’s the matter? Has master been throwing a temper again?”
It was said that children would grow up to be old children, and Song Yi definitely fit the phrase. He would often throw small temper tantrums with Su Tang, which was why that was the first question that popped into her mind. Of course, as his disciple, Su Tang could dare to talk about her master this way, but how could Pengmo be the same? He only laughed the question off and replied, “How could that be? Master has just been very worried about the young miss.”
“It’s been hard on you, having to run over and ask after me every day.” Reading between the lines of Pengmo’s words, Su Tang smiled faintly and replied thus.
Pengmo laughed along. After that, Su Tang didn’t go to the study to look for her master but instead went to the kitchen. When she saw that Pengmo had already started the fire, she rolled up her sleeves and said, “Well, let’s make breakfast first. Master can eat it when he wakes up.”
