Su Tang knew that the little guy wished she could stay by his side all the time, but that he was also too sensible to say so. Unfortunately, there was no way to grant that wish of his, at least not in the short term. After all, she was truly very busy these days.
When everything got on the right track and when she had some people she could trust to handle things so she wouldn’t have to run around and do everything personally, it would probably get easier.
Of course, in the end, no matter what happened it was impossible for her to really accompany Su Nuo all the time. Thus, even if she knew that it would cause the little guy to feel a little lost and hurt, there was nothing else she could do. Some roads, people were just destined to walk alone. That was the reality.
Because Lu Wan’er sent a reply saying she would definitely come to try her new products, Su Tang once again got up early the next day. Of course, not just Su Tang, there was also Baohe and Pu Wei.
While Zhang Cuilan and Yu Caihe were busy making breakfast, Baohe and Pu Wei were following Su Tang to learn how to make the Dessert Cafe’s newest products.
First of all, she had them use butter, flour, and sugar to bake some cookies. Recently, Pu Wei and Baohe had been more or less running the Dessert Cafe, so they were already used to baking cakes and were probably more familiar with the oven at home than Su Tang herself was.
Because of this, Su Tang only needed to stand by the side and give directions while letting the two girls handle everything. In the end, they managed to bake around a hundred cookies in quick succession. Around then Su Nuo woke up and was drawn to the kitchen by the sweet scent of the freshly baked cookies.
Su Tang told him to go and have breakfast before anything. At the same time, she sent a few cookies out to the table and also packed a few into Su Nuo’s lunchbox so he could take them to the academy as a snack. Outside the kitchen, Su Nuo happily ate his breakfast and the cookies and then headed off to the academy while smiling from ear to ear.
“Starting from today, you two will start selling these cookies for two copper coins each. Are you confident to bake them by yourselves?” Su Tang turned to question Baohe and Pu Wei.
In fact, cookies weren’t all that difficult to make, it was just that the materials like butter weren’t really available in this era. If Su Tang didn’t have the processing plant inside her space, she wouldn’t be able to make them either.
Baohe and Pu Wei had been baking cakes almost every day recently, so with their understanding of baking, it wasn’t hard to make cookies at all. Thus, they immediately responded together, ““Yes, this maidservant has learned.””
Yu Caihe and Zhang Cuilan also came out to sample these things. The crisp texture and unique sweet taste made them sigh. It was really delicious, and definitely worthy of being the new product Su Tang was introducing to the Dessert Cafe today in their minds.
But, unexpectedly, Su Tang didn’t stop there. Instead, she asked Baohe and Pu Wei to stay and be ready to continue. After letting the cookies cool off for a while, Su Tang directed Pu Wei and Baohe to crush them up and put them into a bowl. After that, she had them heat some butter until it melted and stir the two ingredients together.
Then, after the butter and cookie crumbs were properly mixed, she had them add the new mixture to the round cake pans she had specially ordered back when she first started making cakes and use a spoon to flatten it down into a crust to be left at the bottom of the cake pan to cool.
After all this was done, Su Tang got some more new ingredients she had taken out of her space earlier and passed them to Pu Wei and Baohe. Baohe was in charge of heating and stirring the freshly made cream cheese while Pu Wei was tasked with mashing the pumila fruits from the climbing figs that Su Tang had grown in the space and mixing them with milk and sugar until the texture was sticky and consistent.
Once that was done, Pu Wei added hers to the cream cheese Baohe had been stirring and then helped to stir until all the ingredients were fully blended.
Then Su Tang asked the two girls to divide the newly-made cake filling into two parts. Once it was separated into two, she went forward and drizzled some honey hawthorn juice on top of one half, and the original pure white cheesecake filling turned light red.
She then poured the light red cheesecake filling on top of the crust they had made earlier and carefully smoothed it out until it was consistent all the way across. After that, she let the cold filling sit for a while until she could see condensation start to appear and then added the pure white filling on top to make a second layer. As a final touch, she added a single red hawthorn berry on the very top.

(tl note: The fruits of climbing figs are called pumila fruits and are apparently an ingredient used in China to make something similar to gelatin.)
