After Su Tang and Luo Xingchen separated, Su Tang immediately headed back to the Dessert Cafe. Yu Caihe had gotten her instructions and had another food box with cakes and milk tea prepared by the time she arrived, so Su Tang took advantage of the fact that it was still a little before noon and directly went over to the Song residence.
“Young miss!” When he heard a knock on the door, Pengmo came out to see who it was. When he saw Su Tang outside, his eyes reddened and his expression was extremely moved.
Seeing him like this, Su Tang raised an eyebrow and asked: “What’s wrong, has master been throwing a tantrum again?”
Only Su Tang, this beloved disciple, would dare to speak so flippantly about the dignified former Imperial Preceptor who had even taught the emperor himself. As for Pengmo, he shook his head like a rattle drum and responded, “No, no, it’s not like that. It’s just that this small one’s cooking really is too unpresentable, so master hasn’t been eating much these days.”
After inviting her in and closing the door behind them, Pengmo reached out and took the food box from her hands. Then, as they walked deeper inside, he spoke up again, “Young miss, you said you would be back within ten days at most this time. So ever since ten days went by master has been nagging me every day to find out where you are.”
In fact, Su Tang really had said that she would be able to come back within ten days. Unfortunately, while doing things outside somethings they wouldn’t go exactly to plan so, in the end, it took more than ten days before she could return. And, from what she understood of his character, Song Yi would naturally become worried when she didn’t come back within the agreed upon timeframe.
“I’ve worried master this time.” Su Tang responded with a faint smile. Sure enough, the first thing Pengmo mentioned would be this topic.
“Unworthy disciple, you still know how to come back!” Song Yi had also heard someone knocking at the door earlier. After all, although the Song residence wasn’t small, there had always been only a few people living there, which meant it was easy for the people inside to notice whenever there were changes. Basically, aside from when Pengmo went out to buy food ingredients or other miscellaneous necessities, the only time there would be any movement at the entryway was when Su Tang or her brother came over.
Therefore, when he finally heard someone knocking at the door just now, Song Yi was at last able to set down his hanging heart. At first, the corners of his mouth curled up in a happy smile, but when he realized that Su Tang would soon be arriving in front of him, he deliberately put on a serious look and immediately scolded her.
Of course, Pengmo had seen the happy expression that appeared on his master’s face when there was first a knock at the door, so he knew Song Yi was just pretending. He quickly spoke up to “mediate”, “Master, the young miss came to see you first thing now that she finally came back. If you are happy, you can just directly say it. Even the young miss said that she had been missing you just now.”
“What are you talking about? I think you’re trying to pick a fight! Quickly scram away and attend to your things.” Song Yi had been busy pretending, but unexpectedly, he was exposed by his own servant! His face quickly turned angry and glared over at Pengmo. At the same time, he wondered how he could have been blind? Of all his clever servants, how did he end up picking the one stupid one to bring along to Qinghe Town?
Despite being scolded, Pengmo continued to smile. He knew that Song Yi wasn’t really angry with him and, what’s more, he also had the young miss to rely on. He said, “Yes, yes, this small one will go and prepare the fire in the kitchen now. The young miss was just saying how she would make a delicious lunch for the master. Master, you can’t always be eating this small one’s cooking, if something goes wrong this small one can’t bear it.”
What kind of ignorant servant was this? Song Yi continued to glare fiercely, so Pengmo obediently retreated from the room.
Su Tang watched the whole conversation between Pengmo and Song Yi and let out an amused smile. But when she saw Pengmo was about to escape, she quickly spoke up and said, “I’ve brought along some milk tea as well as my store’s newly developed cheesecake this time. Please plate it all properly and then bring it out for master to enjoy in a bit.”
Pengmo was still carrying the food box so he swiftly gave his promise, “I will!”
“What’s this? You listen to her but not me? !” Song Yi was very angry.
Pengmo quickly escaped from the room, and Su Tang went forward with a smiling face. “Master, I’ve just arrived back in town and immediately came over to see you. Master, you don’t know how much hardship this disciple has faced all along the way. It’s been very tiring. Just look at your poor disciple, see how pitiful I am?”
Su Tang deliberately cupped her little face with both hands and pretended to be a “good little disciple that was bullied by the outside world”.
Song Yi took it seriously though. As soon as Su Tang had come inside, he had noticed that his little disciple had become much thinner again. Originally, right now should be the middle of Su Tang’s growth period, and even if she ate much more seriously than she currently did she still wouldn’t get fat because he body would use the resources to grow.
However, during the time while she was traveling outside she hadn’t really been able to eat properly. Of course, there was a simple kitchen inside of her space which she could use to make simple things like milk porridge or the like, but during her time outside she had been very busy and hadn’t really felt up to cooking for herself every day. The end result was how she looked now, much thinner and with less meat on her bones when compared to before.
