“Brother Yuan, Changle, you were looking for me?” Su Tang heard the conversation at the door and stepped out of the main room to take a look.
Su Yongyuan, Su Changle, and their wives were in the middle of their greetings when they suddenly heard Su Tang’s voice. They all looked over with a bit of surprise and saw that Su Tang and Su Nuo had both come out of the main room.
They all smiled and hurried forward. Su Yongyuan and his wife just greeted them as “Brother/Sister” with a smile because they were technically from the same generation, meanwhile, Su Changle and his wife both politely greeted them with: “Aunt Tang, Uncle Nuo.”
Su Nuo also casually responded to Su Yongyuan and his wife with “Brother/Sister-in-law” and, when he heard Su Changle and his wife greeting him so respectfully, he put on the airs of a small adult and accepted their greetings graciously.
“Everyone, please come on in. What are you all looking for me for?” Su Tang smiled and invited everyone inside while secretly wondering what they were looking for her for.
The four people all hurriedly came inside, and Su Yongyuan’s wife immediately passed Su Tang the basket she was holding.
“Tang’er, if it hadn’t been for you, our family wouldn’t have been able to make so much money recently. Su Tang looked at the large cake that Su Yongyuan’s wife had given her and saw it was still warm. Obviously, she had made it just now especially for her and her brother, and it looked delicious at a glance. Meanwhile, Su Changle’s wife had given her clothes. However, they weren’t outer clothes, instead, they were inner clothes made from fine cotton cloth.
Probably Su Changle’s wife had seen the clothes Su Tang was already wearing and, after thinking of her own sewing skills, was afraid Su Tang might look down on any outerwear she might make. However, inner clothing was a different story. In this village, traditionally, people wouldn’t approach an embroidery lady to make their close-fitting inner clothing, instead, a close relative would make their inner clothing for them.
And Su Changle’s wife knew there were no elders in Su Tang’s family to make inner clothes for them, so she felt this would be a good gift. After all, although she and her husband were technically considered to be part of the younger generation, they were both adults who had already raised two daughters and three sons in their family. Thus, Su Changle’s wife meticulously made some inner clothes from good fabric and gave them to Su Tang today.

“These things are nothing valuable, we just hope you won’t despise them, Sister Tang, Brother Nuo.” Su Yongyuan said happily. He and his wife were both relieved to see that Su Tang didn’t seem to dislike their gift.
After all, Su Tang had entertained them with precious things like Honey Hawthorn Tea when they had visited her in the past, so they were a bit worried that she might look down on their simple cake for being too cheap. But when they saw she seemed to wholeheartedly appreciate their gift even though it wasn’t very expensive they felt very gratified.
Su Tang suddenly said, “I can see that this cake is very delicious with a glance. If it weren’t for me needing to act a bit reserved as an elder, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from taking a bite right now.”
“And Changle’s wife, your needlework is quite exquisite, and these clothes came at just the right time for us to wear.”
“You probably don’t know, but your Uncle Nuo and I have been going through a growth spurt recently, especially my brother, so finding clothes for him to wear is more and more difficult. Just yesterday he told me that his sleeves and trouser legs were too short, so this gift came at just a perfect time.”
