Of course, Pei Xuan had no idea that this was the reason Su Tang had rejected his help.
Back in the carriage, Su Tang nodded along as she listened to Jiang Hong explaining the perks of the first location he had chosen. It sounded good and everything seemed fine but, unfortunately, it seemed to be missing the one thing she was looking for the most.
“Well, let’s take a look at it before making any decisions. Also, I mentioned that it would be good if we could find a location by a river, did you find any such locations?” Su Tang said slowly, her face impassive and expressionless.
As soon as Jiang Hong heard Su Tang’s question, he realized that the young miss seemed dissatisfied with his first choice so he hurriedly said, “In addition to the one we’re heading towards now, one of the other locations I’ve scouted is also nearby and near a river. This second location is a bit closer to Qingshui Town compared to the first one.”
“Speaking of the second location, carriages sent from the Yang Farm and the Zhou Farm will take about an hour to reach, but the young miss’s other three farms are all about two hours away by carriage.”
“This small one has already gone to take a look at this second property and I’ve seen that although it’s large, it’s also somewhat dilapidated. However, the most troublesome point is that the property doesn’t have any proper road toward the County Seat, so any goods sent by land will have to go through Qingshui Town. In short, the land route isn’t very convenient but, because it is by the river, the water route is very easy to use.”
Back when Su Tang had first asked Jiang Hong to go out and try to find a location for her workshop, she had mentioned that he should try to find a location near a river if at all possible. This was because she still had some other ideas that she hoped to use to increase her workshop’s efficiency which would require the presence of a river.
Thus, although the first location Jiang Hong introduced seemed good in all aspects, she didn’t like it because it wasn’t near a river. Fortunately, Jiang Hong immediately understood what Su Tang was worried about so he quickly introduced another location that also met all of Su Tang’s requirements and was also near a river.
A little less than an hour later, Su Tang and her party arrived at the first location Jiang Hong introduced. As soon as they got out of the carriage, Su Tang was overwhelmed by the pungent scent of dye and looked around to see a workshop that had pieces of dyed cloth floating everywhere. Obviously, this workshop was currently still in business and up and running. If Su Tang were to buy it, she would probably be able to convert it for her own use and save a lot of trouble compared to building an entirely new workshop from scratch.
As they looked around, Su Tang found it was more or less exactly the same as how Jiang Hong had introduced it. There were wide roads which would make land travel convenient and overall the place seemed suitable. However, after Su Tang walked a circle around it once, she just frowned and didn’t seem interested in buying it at all. She simply said, “Let’s go and look at the next place.”
Jiang Hong saw Su Tang’s expression and could instantly tell that she wasn’t satisfied so he didn’t try to say anything else and just directly led her back to the carriage so they could head to the next location.
Su Tang had only just clambered back into the carriage when the young man who had been musing silently until now suddenly blocked in front of her and said angrily, “Su Tang, you tricked me!”
Seeing the young man who had suddenly appeared in front of her, Su Tang patted her head awkwardly. She was so busy with choosing a location that she had actually completely forgotten about this guy!
Faced with his sudden complaint, Su Tang blinked innocently and said, “How could that be? Senior brother, think about it. I’m very stupid, but senior brother is very smart. Even if I wanted to trick you, could I do it?”
Pei Xuan pondered those words and found that they seemed to make some sense… however, this time he stayed vigilant. After interacting with her for a while he had discovered that this new junior sister’s words were often provocative yet somehow leading, so he couldn’t just follow along with whatever she said. If he wasn’t careful, she might really trick him!
“You called me a pig.” As he thought of all this, Pei Xuan finally remembered that it had been just yesterday when this little money grubber had embroidered a pig onto his sleeve and labeled it with his name! Although this little money grubber was stupid, she clearly also had some tricks.
“So, do you think you’re a pig?” Su Tang put on a clever smile that seemed immature and filled with sweetness, but her eyes were filled with the cunning of a little fox.
The orange cat’s fur stood up on end and he almost wanted to cry out: Young man, you’re in danger! His master only put on that expression when she was going to trick people ah.
Pei Xuan shook his head and replied, “Of course not, how could I be…”
Before he could finish his thought, Su Tang cut in, “Right? You know you aren’t a pig, and you only need to believe in this point, it doesn’t matter what other people say. Isn’t that right?”
“So you don’t need to worry about this kind of small issue. After all, if you are not a pig, even if outsiders say you are, you still won’t be one. And if you are a pig, even if outsiders say you aren’t one, you’ll still be one, right?”
