Three days after Su Tang had returned to town, Su Yongqiang and Su Yongshun once again came to find her. That day, in the old courtyard which Luo Xingchen had rented back then, they both finally signed employment contracts with Su Tang.
After all, although they were all members of the same family, even blood brothers needed to keep their accounts clear. Thus, a contract was necessary.
Su Yongqiang also showed Su Tang the list of people he had selected to be hired. Although Su Tang wasn’t personally familiar with many of the people on the list, thanks to the orange cat’s intel gathering, she was aware that there were basically no big issues with any of them.
Su Yongqiang had basically tried his best to let at least one person from every branch of the Su family be hired, with only a few families having two members hired. Of course, Su Yongqiang and Su Yongshun’s families were exceptions. From their two families, basically all of the working-aged people had been included.
Su Tang noticed that, but she didn’t mind. From what she knew, these people were all reliable as workers, so there was no problem from that angle. Moreover, as a person running a business, she was familiar with the idea of allowing the cattle to graze if you wanted them to work.
Put simply, Su Yongqiang and Su Yongshun would definitely work more seriously and wholeheartedly if she gave them more benefits.
After Su Yongqiang finished confirming the list of workers to be hired, Su Tang nodded and passed him the money to be used for the first month’s wages. She knew that the project was a big one and involved a lot of people, so she wasn’t stingy with the remuneration.
This was a large amount of money from simple farmers like them, so Su Yongqiang had actually been very worried about whether Su Tang would have any difficulties producing it. But who knew Su Tang was so wealthy that she seemed as if didn’t mind at all and took out the money on the spot? In fact, that was really the case. These days Su Tang already had a profit of dozens of taels of silver every month from her Dessert Cafe and her share of the soap business.
And recently, she had also gotten a share of the meat grinder business, so this little bit of money really wasn’t much to her.
When Su Yongqiang finally held the money in his hands, he naturally felt much more secure in his heart. After that, Su Yongshun also joined the conversation to say how much he would need to purchase materials and so on. Su Tang recorded all these expenses down for her own records and then gave Su Yongshun the money he needed as well.
The two men then returned to Sujia Village and quickly jumped into action. Once the money was in hand, the process was very efficient and, from the preparatory phase until construction began, it only took a few days. From there, the two men carefully supervised the construction of the home and Su Tang basically didn’t need to interfere at all.
As for Su Tang, during this period of time her efforts were all focused on developing the workshop. By mid-June, the construction of the new workshop had been officially underway for nearly a month, and everything was going quite smoothly. If things kept going according to the schedule, the new workshop should be completed and ready to begin creating sauces before the first batches of chili peppers and tomatoes arrived from the farms.
And, as the weather slowly warmed up, not only were Su Tang and Luo Xingchen very busy on their end, the farmers working on the farms the Luo family set aside to grow the chili peppers and tomatoes were also very nervous.
Basically, all of the chili peppers and tomatoes seemed to be ripe by this time, and these farmers were all hoping the Luo family would send someone to quickly harvest them and transport them away. After all, they were very worried the something might happen to this new experimental crop in the middle which would cause them to be blamed.
…
“Pardon?” A timid voice called out. Baohe and Pu Wei, who had gotten up early in the morning to make cakes and prepare desserts for the day as usual, opened to doors of the Dessert Cafe and found to several people waiting outside the door.
“What can I do for you, uncle, auntie?” Seeing that the people outside looked a bit afraid, Baohe spoke in a gentle tone and gave them a smile.
The people outside were Zhou Dazhu, Madam Yang, and Zhou Xiaocao. Zhou Dazhu and Madam Yang had actually heard of Dessert Cafe before. From what they knew, the foods sold in this place were very delicious, but they were also very expensive, and the restaurant had a good reputation, not only here in this town, but also across the whole county.
Su Tang had told them to come to the Dessert Cafe to find her, so Zhou Dazhu and Madam Yang brought there daughter into town early in the morning to look for her. But when they actually arrived here in front of the fancy restaurant, they started to feel a little afraid and couldn’t help but be timid.
Meanwhile, Zhou Xiaocao, who seemed to have mostly recovered, didn’t think so much. Although she couldn’t be as rampant and wanton as before, her personality was still very outgoing. She leaned over, saluted Baohe, and said frankly, “Hi there little sister, we’re from Sujia Village, and we’re looking for Miss Su Tang.”
When Baohe heard that they were from Sujia Village and were looking for Su Tang, her smile became a bit more sincere and she said, “Alright, please wait for a moment.”
With that, she went inside and told Pu Wei about the guests. Pu Wei then went back to the residential part of the courtyard and told Su Tang.
