“Be careful!” Luo Xingchen watched Su Tang climbing up to such a high place and couldn’t help but call out in a worried tone.
“This is nothing!” Su Tang wasn’t worried at all though. After all, with the space and the orange cat, there was basically there no danger in this kind of operation. She nimbly climbed to the top, hung the pulley on top of the pillar, and then slotted the hemp rope into the pulley track.
Down below, Jiang Hong led the workers to tie up the meat grinder with one end of the hemp rope, and the other end was attached to the cows and horses. In addition to the cattle, there were also some ready to pull the hemp rope.
“All right, pull!” Su Tang saw that everything was in place, waved her hand, and directly ordered them to begin.
Immediately, one worker began to drive the cattle forward, and the rest of them all began to pull together. They all thought that it would take a lot of effort but, after a bit of resistance at the beginning, the meat grinder began to slowly lift up into the air.
Since she knew that the meat grinder was so heavy, Su Tang hadn’t only used one pulley at the top. There was another pulley underneath creating a simple pulley system in order to reduce the force. Before long, Su Tang’s idea proved to be completely correct.
With only a little effort from the workers, this big meat grinder which took more than a dozen strong men to lift a few inches off the ground, was easily lifted more than two meters into the air. It went over the wall, and then was safely let down into its spot inside the building.
“All clear.” Su Tang oversaw the whole process. Once it was done, she gave the all clear and then climbed down from the pillar.
Luo Xingchen gave Su Tang a thumbs-up and said, “You are awesome!”
Jiang Hong and the workers from just now also came over and said, “Miss Su, you really are a capable person. I can’t believe that you can think of such a method. This pulley is actually such a good thing. It will be much more convenient for us to lift heavy things like this in the future.”
Only workers like them could really understand the significance of Su Tang’s method of using pulleys this time. Just now, they had basically not used any strength at all, but they had been able to smoothly lift such a heavy object so high.
If they could also use this method when building houses or other things in the future, they would be able to use this pulley system to easily transport materials to high places, which would definitely save them a lot of energy and greatly improve their overall efficiency.
Thinking that far, the foreman of the workers couldn’t help but look at the pulley in Su Tang’s hand with somewhat greedy eyes.
Su Tang could see what the foreman was thinking. She wasn’t stingy and directly gave him the pulley in her hand without much worry. In fact, the people in this era already knew about pulleys, but they didn’t know about the concept of creating a pulley system with two or even three pulleys like Su Tang had just done.
For example, many wells in this era included a pulley in their structure, it was just that the ancient people who built and used these wells did not study physics and did not understand the principle behind it.
But after seeing how Su Tang created a pulley system today, these workers would more or less understand. Moreover, pulley production didn’t have any particularly technical content, so there was nothing for Su Tang to hide. Plus, if the workers could use pulley systems while building the workshop, they would be even more efficient, which was good for Su Tang.
When the foreman saw Su Tang being so generous, he immediately said thank you again and again and then accepted the pulleys with great care.
After the meat grinder was inside the building, everything became easy. Luo Xingchen oversaw things until the workers all got busy again, then walked out and stood next to Su Tang. The two girls stood there and looked at their workshop which had slowly begun to take shape.
“I estimate that it should be completely done in another half a month.” Luo Xingchen said.
Su Tang nodded. “Good. The first batch of ripe tomatoes and chili peppers should be ready to be harvested in another ten days or so. Also, I had the farmer dry some of the chili peppers and send them over to me. Once you’ve finished your work here come back quickly, I have a new product to show you once you come back.”
Luo Xingchen had been very busy with the meat grinder and building the workshop recently, so she hadn’t had time to come back to Qinghe Town.
Luo Xingchen opened her eyes wide as soon as she heard Su Tang say “new product”. She quickly said, “Drying the chili peppers? Did you use that for your new product? Will it be a new kind of seasoning?”
